Fun Day and Unveiling of Arthursus The Bear
On bank holiday Monday in glorious sunny weather, the Dolwen Field Fun Day took place at Llanwrtyd Wells. In the morning the inaugural 5k fun run was won by Dylan Parry in an excellent time of 20 minutes 17 seconds. The First Lady home, also in an impressive time, was Donna Morris in 21 minutes 35 seconds. After the runners had left the field a children’s fun run took place on the newly restored perimeter track in the field. Every runner received a Coronation medal and there were trophies for all the first three runners in each category. At 2 pm “Arthursus” the famous Llanwrtyd Bear, which has been restored by Dorian Van Braam, was unveiled by Paul Newman the owner of Charcroft Electronics Ltd in the sensory garden. The Llanwrtyd Samba Band was on hand to provide the drum rolls. The newly restored Coronation Way was also officially opened by Paul Newman. In the afternoon the fun continued with the Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Boules, Rounders, outdoor Table Tennis, bouncy castle, Radnor Play Group, samba band drumming, and tea and cakes in the pavilion. A perfect day to celebrate all the hard work of the Dolwen Field committee and community to improve the facilities in the park.
